Mobile's own Paige Madden is now an Olympic medalist. The 22-year-old swam her way to a silver medal in the 4 x 200 relay, smashing the world record in the process. The top three teams all broke the world record, and China which won gold, gets to keep it. But Paige's relay's team broke the American record also. She spoke briefly after the heart-pounding race.

"I was really nervous but I just wanted to give it my all for Team USA, put it all on the line and give it everything I had," said Paige Madden.

Her mother, Ellen Madden, says is was thrilling to see her daughter shine on the world stage.

"It was so fun to see the pure joy on her face," said Ellen Madden.

Ellen says they're so grateful how Mobile's rallied around Paige's success.

"It's been very humbling to have the support of the community. Our neighborhood has been they've they're all flying Olympic flags," said Ellen.

As for Paige's future in the pool...

"She is joining the international swim League, which is the pro swimming league. She was drafted," said Ellen.

Paige will spend the month of September in Naples, Italy competing for the Tokyo Frog Kings team in the International Swim League. At some point after that, Ellen says Paige will be going back to school. She wants to become a physician's assistant.
