St. Luke's Advances to basketball Finals


BIRMINGHAM - St. Luke's Episcopal downed Tanner 48-36 Monday afternoon to advance to the Class 2A state finals Friday at 5:45 p.m.
Coach Kantonio Davis' Wildcats (23-11), making their first appearance in the AHSAA State Basketball Tournament, limited the Rattlers (22-9) to just 29.5 percent shooting for the game. The 94th annual AHSAA State Basketball Tournament got underway Monday at the BJCC Legacy in Birmingham.
St. Luke's led 15-3 after one quarter. Wildcats' 6-foot-6 junior center Hunter Preston had 11 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots to pace St. Luke's. Jermaine Brown also had 15 points.
