UMS-Wright Bulldogs Repeat as 4A State Champions


And the UMS-Wright Bulldogs do it again! Coach Kevin Raley and the Bulldogs defeated the Madison Academy Mustangs in the best-of-three series to claim the class 4A State Title!

UMS-Wright struck first winning the opener of the series on Tuesday night at Paterson Field 5-1, but Madison Academy, who has won the last three Class 3A titles before joining 4A this year, bounced back on Wednesday with an impressive 9-1 win over the Bulldogs forcing a winner-take-all Game 3 at Riverwalk Stadium.

With a blue map and rings on the line, UMS looked to Brant Dixon to take the mound.

The junior threw a complete game against the Mustangs with two strikeouts and allowed just five hits. Senior and Mississippi State signee Tanner Allen had a triple and single in Game 3 with Dalton Goff adding two hits and an RBI.

Skipper Snypes had a hit in each of his at-bats and doubled in a run for the Bulldogs; senior first baseman Sam Plash drove in a run each time he stepped up to the plate. Plash was 4-for-4 in the clincher game and was named the series MVP!

The UMS-Wright Bulldogs took Game 3 against Madison Academy 5-1 giving them back-to-back 4A State Titles!

The Bulldogs now have 10 State Championship Titles in baseball!
