University of South Alabama volleyball middle blocker Kelley Hartman and outside hitter Kristina Alabastro were each named All-Sun Belt Conference, as announced by the league office Wednesday.
Hartman was named first-team all-SBC, while Alabastro earned second-team all-SBC honors.
Hartman led the conference in blocks per set (1.29), and ranked fifth in hitting percentage (.322) to end the regular season. In SBC contests, Hartman Hartman finished tied for second with teammate Morgan Stalcup for blocks per set (1.15) in league contests, ranked third in hitting percentage (.367) and fourth in service aces per set (0.26).
Alabastro averaged 2.26 kills per set, 2.16 digs per set and 0.63 blocks per set in conference matches. She recorded 206 kills for an average of 2.16 kills per set, 207 digs for an average of 2.18 digs per set, along with 21 assists, 19 service aces and 61 total blocks in 95 total sets played this season. She has recorded three double-doubles this season.
Hartman is the first Jaguar to earn first-team all-conference honors since Mechell Daniel in 2013. Daniel was also the last Jag to earn all-league accolades after receiving second-team all-conference honors last season. It also marks the fifth straight season the Jags have had at least one all-conference student-athlete.
Coastal Carolina's Leah Hardeman was the named the SBC Player of the Year, while Arkansas State's Carlisa May was voted the Offensive Player of the Year. Defensive Player-of-the-Year honors went to Micah Dinwiddie of Texas State, Setter of the Year was Texas State's Erin Hoppe, Freshman of the Year was Louisiana's Hali Wisnoskie and Newcomer of the Year was Texas State's Amy Pflughaupt. CCU's Jozsef Foreman was named the SBC Coach of the Year.
