All around the world, music lovers will be celebrating Make Music Day on Saturday, June 18. Andy's Music Store in Mobile is joinging the celebration for the third year with live music, fun, food, and musical prizes from 10:00 A.M.- 4:00 P.M. Everyone will have the opportunity to stop in and play an instrument, whether it's for the first time or the thousandth.

Make Music Day is a one-day event where free, live musical performances, opportunities to make music, and other musical events take place around the world. The musical festivities at Andy's are part of a global celebration of music making in more than 800 cities throughout 120 countries, all inspired by France's Fête de la Musique that began in 1982.

Festivities will begin at 10 A.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance and a young performer singing "America the Beautiful." Free pizza, drinks, face painting, a kid's musical instrument play area, and live music will follow. Performers include drum lines, steel bands, jam bands, Irish music, and more.

Music has been shown to strengthen social connectivity, reduce stress, lower blood pressure, stimulate memory, and is integral to a well-rounded, enjoyable life. By participating in Make Music Day, Andy's encourages every form of music making.
