Attorney: Auburn tree-burning suspect to plead guilty

The man accused of setting the iconic Auburn Toomer Corner's oaks on fire this fall has reached a plea deal.

29-year-old Jochen Wiest filed the paperwork Wednesday after agreeing to plead guilty.

Wiest is accused of setting fire to toilet paper that covered one of the oaks after the Auburn/Louisiana State University game.

He's charged with criminal mischief, desecrating a venerable object, and public intoxication.
