The Florida Highway Patrol has not released the names of a driver and backseat passenger that were killed when their Ford Explorer ran off the road on I-10 early Sunday morning.
They say it is unknown at the time why the vehicle left the interstate, slid down an embankment then struck a tree. The impact with the tree caused a fire to engulf the SUV.
The front, right passenger was able to escape the vehicle, but did obtain serious injuries.
The report says all three occupants were Colorado residents, and authorities are contacting the next of kin.
It is unknown if this accident was alcohol related.
