Families are upset and angry with a local cemetery after management removed flowers from grave sites.

Family members whose loved ones were laid to rest here at Serenity and Lawn Haven Cemetery took to Facebook this week to express their outrage after the funeral home ordered the groundskeepers to remove faded and deteriorating flower arrangements.

Angela Davis says it's not right. Her in-laws and granddaughter are buried here.

NBC 15 inquired about the missing flowers and now have answers.

Property managers say arrangements are removed as part of a cemetery clean up every fall and spring.

It's a procedure listed in the 2013 memorial decoration policy posted on the funeral home's website.

We're told the purpose is to keep the grounds beautiful.

But some families claim their arrangements had only been on display for a couple weeks when they vanished. Others like Jeanette Taylor, whose mother and other families members were laid to rest here, say flowers are costly and it's wrong for the company to take them.

"I don't want her looking down from heaven and thinking we're not taking care of her grave," Taylor said. "we miss her tremendously and the 19th made one year from day she passed and we come and there's no flowers so it just hurts my feelings"
