If you're one of the people that frequents are walking downtown Mobile the second Friday of each month, get ready for some changes.
January 11 begins the year of movies and music in Cathedral Square. That means the vendors in orders to usually populate the square will be shifted to Bienville Square.
This concerned some local artist to feel that foot traffic may be affected.
Jackie McMillan, a local artist who makes wooden flowers, says she’s concerned about foot traffic because the bars are located closer to Cathedral Square. Instead of the art, Cathedral Square will host a movie night. The Incredibles movie will be first up, a popular children’s movie.
We spoke with several people who said that it also could be a great thing bringing more people downtown.
Mobile Arts Council executive director Shellie Teague said the council will continue supporting local artists and galleries as they’ve always done. The council and the city work in tandem to manage ArtWalk.
