Twelve Blount High School students have been suspended following a drug incident on campus Thursday.
Ten students, nine girls and one boy, were suspended for allegedly taking what is believed to be Xanax on campus.
Two other boys who are brothers were suspended and recommended for expulsion for bringing the drugs to school, according to Rena Phillips with the school system.
The ten other students suspended for taking the drug have been referred to the school systems C.A.P. program (Chemical Abuse Prevention). The students and their parents will have to complete the 4-week program that is run by the Drug Education Council.
The school system has also referred the matter to the Prichard Police Department.
