A survey commissioned by Orange Beach businessman Dean Young shows 77 percent of people oppose tolling the 1-10 Mobile River Bridge and Bayway project. WT&S Consulting asked 1,495 registered voters in Mobile and Baldwin County, “Do you support or oppose the new toll being proposed on the 1-10 Mobile River Bridge?” Only 346 said yes they supported tolls.
Young said this poll sends a clear message to Governor Kay Ivey that people do not support paying a $6 toll and urged her to hit the pause button on the project so other options can be reviewed.
Young also said this would give voters an opportunity to vote on a constitutional amendment he proposed last week that would ban tolling interstates in Alabama. That proposal would first have to clear the hurdle of passing the legislature with 60% of the vote before appearing on the ballot.
