Saraland police are working to figure out what led up to a shooting Wednesday. The shooting left one man in critical condition.
For about two hours police searched inside and outside a house in the 100 block of Shelton Beach Road.
"We're trying to determine what actually occurred," Cpl. Gary Cole with Saraland Police said.
Police say 20 minutes before 3 p.m. they got a call about a shooting. When they arrived at the scene they found a man shot in the chest inside the home.
Police say he was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Investigators are working to piece it all together.
"Criminal investigation division officers have arrived on scene and are conducting a thorough investigation," Cole said.
Police are releasing limited details at this time. They won't say if the man was shot inside the house or outside. Cole says right now they're trying to figure out if the man shot himself or if someone shot him.
"It's still very early in the investigation and any detail that I can release is very few and in between because they're so valuable to the investigation tools," Cole said.
