Two teenagers are in custody after police say they broke into a home, stole guns and jewelry, then set fires throughout the house.
It happened early Saturday morning in the 6800 block of Oaklawn Drive.
"It was really scary," a neighbor said.
A woman who lives a few houses down says she noticed a suspicious car in front the home then heard possible gunshots, so she called police.
"When I was on the phone with police I heard some glass breaking," she said.
Police say when they arrived, they caught the 15 and 16-year-olds walking out of the house. They say the duo stole jewelry and guns.
"Had some ammunition and guns in my driveway that they were trying to steal that they got," next door neighbor Stan Cross said.
Cross says he was sleeping when he smelled smoke.
"I could smell it, but I didn't see any flames shooting up or anything like that," he said.
Neighbors say the home owners were out of town.
They say while it's a rare situation for their quiet neighborhood. It's something that makes them keep their eyes open.
"I didn't know there was a fire," the woman said. "I just heard glass. I thought somebody was just breaking into something and just to think that somebody could have been home or sleeping or it could have been my family."
Police say the two teens were taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation then taken to Strickland.
