Mobile police officers saw a vehicle flee after backing into another vehicle in the area of Dauphin Street at Springhill Avenue on Tuesday.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver sped away. That's when officers pursued the vehicle until the driver crashed into a tree in the area of Mott Drive near St. Stephens Road.
The driver, identified as 20-year-old Kentrell Freeman, then fled on foot but was caught after a foot pursuit. At this time there is no evidence that Freeman made forced entry into any homes in the area.
The only thing discovered was a fence knocked down, according to police.
Freeman is charged with attempting to elude police, pistol-carrying without a permit and receiving stolen property in the 4th degree.
