Mobile police are still searching for the person who shot and killed a 17-year-old boy.
It happened Tuesday in Maysville just feet away from Rickarby Park.
"It's out of control," a woman who lives in the neighborhood said. "It's out of control. The kids getting guns."
Witnesses say TyDarius Jones was walking with a group of friends, when a car pulled up. They say a guy and a girl got out and started shooting.
Police say Jones had multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
"It's disturbing to me," Mrs. Covington said. "It's so many kids around here play at the park."
We spoke with Mrs. Covington. A woman who didn't want to go on camera for safety reasons. She says she was outside when about four or five shots rang out.
"I was sitting on the porch when I heard the gunshots," she said.
She says with the violence in the area and the city, she's been living on lockdown.
"You have burglar bars. You have alarm systems. I don't feel like I'm free, like I can live freely," she said.
She says after living in the neighborhood for 30 years, she's had enough.
"It's totally different than what it used to be," she said. "I told my husband I'm just ready to go."
NBC 15 checked with MPD today for any updates on this case.
