Danny Jason Fox was shot by a homeowner while attempting to break into the home Wednesday night.

According to Capt. Paul Burch with the Mobile County Sheriffs office, Fox was a work release inmate and walked off this assigned job site sometime Wednesday. Later that day he allegedly broke into his ex-wife’s home several times.

He then went to his uncle's home in the same neighborhood and removed an window A/C unit and attempted to enter the home.

The homeowner, unaware it was his nephew whom he hadn’t seen in years, told the intruder “if you come in, I’ll shoot.” According to investigators, Fox continued to enter the home and at least one shot was fired. Fox fled the scene and MCSO deputy’s searched the area for several hours but were unable to locate Fox.

Thursday morning a resident reported a suspicious person in a backyard not far from Wednesday night's incidents. Deputies responded and searched with K-9 units and were able to arrest Fox at that point.

He was transported to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the hand and several dog bites. He was treated and released and booked into Mobile Metro Jail.

Fox is charged with 2 counts of Burglary, Escape and two counts of violating a protection order.
