Our next storm system is on the move and it will bring a heavy, possibly flooding rain to our area. Saturday is a Code Red weather alert day as all outdoor activities will be impacted. That includes travel on area roads.
We will see a widespread area of 2-3” of rain. A few spots may see as much as 4 inches of rain after this one is done with us. A Flash Flood WATCH is now in effect for the Gulf Coast for Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening because of the heavy rain we will get...in addition to the heavy rain that fell last weekend.
The only change I have made to our previous forecast is an update on the timing of the heaviest rain. It still looks like the afternoon and evening hours on Saturday, but the main line moves through a little earlier than indicated in our previous forecasts...now between 2 pm and 8 pm.
Severe threat: I'm still expecting just a limited threat of storms along and near the coastline that could produce damaging winds, even a brief tornado. The main impact for our viewing area is the heavy rain.
The rain eases up after midnight and most areas will be cloudy, but dry on Sunday.
