CODE RED WEATHER: Heavy Rain Threat on Saturday

CODE RED WEATHER: Heavy Rain Threat on Saturday

A powerful storm system promises to wreck outdoor plans on Saturday night. While we won't see severe weather in the form of damaging wind and tornadoes, we will see heavy rain and that is why we have declared Saturday a Code Red weather day.

Saturday will bring us cloudy skies and just a few showers around into the early afternoon hours. Best timing on the heaviest rain: 7pm to 12 AM (Midnight) Saturday night across Mobile and Baldwin Counties. I think most of us will get 2-3” of rain out of this one.

Like last weekend the rain will be heavier in a few spots with totals up to 4 inches of rain not out of the question. Unlike last weekend, this system will move and the heavy rain bands won't stay put for more than a couple of hours.

We'll see a few lingering showers through Sunday morning with cooler and drier conditions during Sunday afternoon.

Travel plans across the region this weekend? While Alabama sees just a cold rain, areas along the northern border and farther north into Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri and Kentucky will see a variety of winter weather...with freezing rain, sleet, and snow possible in those areas.
