We are under a Level 1 threat of severe weather with the primary threat being damaging winds. Lightning-packed storms will also threaten planned afternoon activities. Some storms could unleash drenching downpours with rain rates of 2-4" per HOUR.

With the possibility of prolonged precipitation through the weekend, be on the lookout for flooded out intersections and areas of poor drainage that typically have problems any time we get more than a few inches of rain over a several day period. Prepare for some blinding downpours at times this weekend.

The Tropics:

In the tropical Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico...no organized activity or potential.

When we eventually get a system that reaches tropical storm strength, the next name on the list is "Chantal." Check back with us for updates.
