An Alabama football player has a felony warrant in his name in Texas, a local TV station is reporting Thursday evening.
Safety Deionte Thompson is among four men considered suspects in a spring break beating that occurred in Crystal Beach, Texas, according to KBMT-TV.
The report states police were investigating the beating of 18-year old Noah Frillou that took place March 18 in the beach town. His injuries, KBMT reported, included several broken bones in his face and a major concussion.
The warrants are for felony assault, the TV station reported.
Thompson's father responded to the news report on Twitter.
"I understand that journalists have a job to do. Just wait until you hear the truth. Trust me, the key word in the case is ALABAMA," Vester Thompson tweeted.
Thompson has played a limited role in two Alabama seasons, but would presumably have a bigger part in the defense this year.
