Ala. (WPMI) Community leaders are being told to get on the bus today to see some
of the state's highest performing schools.
These schools referred to as
torchbearer schools answer the call by doing more with less resources.

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Austin Miller, a young man with Cerebral Palsy, has spent most of his high school career at Faith Academy as a manager for the basketball team, until his team gave him a surprise of a lifetime. "He's a huge part of our team, maybe on the outside not so much because he is filling water bottles, or cleaning up spills on the floor, but he's a big part of the team," said head coach of the basketball team at Faith Academy, John Price. During the senior night for the team, Miller was announced as one of the starting players. "It's always been a big dream of his, and I've always wanted him to realize that dream, and I think tonight is going to be very special for all of us," said Shawn Bernard, Miller's friend and team mate. Miller missed a couple of shots in the warm up, but didn't skip a beat during the game. He sent the crowd in an uproar when he scored the first two points for the Rams. "That was exhilarating, that was an awesome feeling, I can't really compare it to anything else because it was so amazing," said Austin Miller. On hand for the special moment was Miller's parents. "I about passed out, Austin has come along long way, and as he was starting the game, he was getting ready to put the balls up, he wasn't ready to get out there, I'm blown away, I'm blown away, I can't believe he got it in the goal like that," said Annie Miller, his mother. Miller helped the Rams win the game, and helped keep his team at the #1 ranking in the state.
